Lawsuit for 3M Military Earplugs

Military earplugs are supposed to tightly fit in the ears of the army personnel and protect their hearing from the massive sounds of explosions at the field of combat. The lawsuits against 3M military earplugs claim that the 3M sold from 2003 to 2015 were ineffective as they don’t fit tightly and thus cannot protect the hearing of the wearer.

If you are a veteran and have been experiencing hearing loss after using 3M Combat Arms Earplugs Version 2 (CAEv2) during your training or deployment and were discharged before January 2015, then you can file a lawsuit against this company claiming compensation. At Youngstown Criminal Law Group, we represent the army personnel who have lost their hearing ability because of the same reason. Our experienced Cleveland 3M earplugs lawyer will help you get through the proceedings and get the claimed damage compensation you deserve.

Things to Know About 3M Military Earplugs Lawsuit

The U. S. Department of Justice in 2018 July announced the compensation of $9.1 million from 3M Corp. for the settlement of the whistleblower False Claim Act Suit that accused the said company of selling the earplugs even after knowing that they are defective.

In a settlement filed in South Carolina federal court, the 3M Corp and their predecessors were accused of selling the defective earplugs that are too short to be properly inserted in the ear and protect hearing from massive sounds.

The defective earplugs are dual-ended. These ones can be used as traditional earplugs as well as the open position that will attenuate the loud noises while letting the quieter noises in. Because of the design problem or for being shorter, it will gradually become loose in the ear while not effectively prevent loud noises. According to the allegation of the U. S Department of Justice, the Aero Technology employees, especially the ones who joined 3M Corp were completely aware of the problem in 2000 and yet sold these devices anyway.

An MDL has been established in April 2019, for 3M Combat Arms Earplugs cases in the Federal Court of Florida. We have represented many veterans for the same lawsuit against the 3M Corp. If you have been a veteran and currently your hearing is impaired because of using this during your deployment, then let our Cleveland 3M earplugs lawyer help you.

Military Hearing Injuries

Almost 60% of all military personnel reported a hearing loss after they left the army. More than 933,000 veterans in 2014 have received disability compensation from the army for hearing loss. Around 1.3 million have received compensation for tinnitus or ringing in the ear.

Acute exposure to the intense impulse of sounds such as an explosion or long-term exposure to repeated gunfire or the sound of engine rooms or aircraft carrier decks can cause both of these conditions.

At Youngstown Criminal Law Group, we have represented many veterans earlier and they have received damages and benefits for their hearing loss and loss of the quality and enjoyment of life.
